It's been a really good week! hehe

Now let's go to the second point of my font conceptualization series: "The missing link, a font that could be of help to everyone!"

From my font library, I have a couple of typefaces that were conceptualized by this idea:

But out of all Typeface I listed above, I do want to focus on the conceptualization hehe.

Let me guys show you the early stages of saphion :)

So an additional info about the conceptualization, Just like Matalihim, Saphion also falls on that same category of a byproduct of a project of mine but a more emphasis on the missing link haha. At that time, I was working on for micro-blading logo that needed to feel expensive but not too grand.

Hence, this is where the idea of saphion came along. a typeface that fits the missing link of a typeface that could cater to the upper market audience without being too intimidating. Making it a san serif typeface was also an early idea of mine since most serif feels too intimidating on the vibes I am looking for.

So I just to share some challenges I have faced developing saphion hehe.

Honestly, Saphion was the 2nd typeface I developed after Galactech haha. In my head, I really do want to have that title of a "type designer". So I said to myself, I really can't consider myself as one, if I didn't make a workhorse typeface with ligatures and italics (which is the mostttt hardest part of font creation. Kerning italics are night mare friends 😕)

So with the addition of ligatures. (Ligatures in simpler terms are like 2 glyphs fused together into one glyph. These are usually for aesthetic purposes or sometimes for legibility like for: fl, fi,ffi, etc.. (kindly look at these letters and notice that they are actually joined and not separated hehe)

Now some more sneak peaks on my early ligatures for saphion

Ligatures also needed special attention to their kerning so that it would not look of or "noticeably separated" with the rest of the characters. What you need to aim for to create ligatures are that it should not break the visual rhythm of the sentence or word you are reading. They should fit right in perfectly.
